Promo Code Index

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how Promo Code Index works: where codes come from, freshness, and how we keep the lights on.

What is Promo Code Index?

Promo Code Index lists discount codes and deals from our store partners, sorted by store. A feed code is removed at sync time once the retailer stops publishing it, and where a store has a feed, its page shows the date that feed was last synced. We list the stores we have an affiliate partnership with, not every store online, and many of them have no live code or deal at any given time.

How do I use a code from Promo Code Index?

Open the store's page, then press the copy button on the offer you want: the code lands on your clipboard while the store opens in a new tab through a tracked affiliate link. Paste it into the promo field at checkout. A deal with no code applies itself once the store page opens. Promo Code Index cannot tell you in advance whether a code will apply to your basket; the retailer decides that at checkout.

Why is it called Promo Code Index?

It describes what the site is: an index of the discount codes and deals our partner stores publish, sorted by store and category. "Index" here means a list you can look things up in, not a complete record. It covers only stores we partner with, and many of them have no live code or deal at any given time.

Is Promo Code Index the same site as Fyndare?

Yes. Promo Code Index was formerly Fyndare, at fyndare.com. Only the name and the web address changed. It’s still run by Adam Moffett, and links to fyndare.com pages redirect to the same pages here. Deal alerts and newsletter subscriptions carried over, and the unsubscribe link in any earlier email still works.

Does Promo Code Index test coupon codes?

No. Promo Code Index does not test codes at checkout, so it cannot promise that a code will work. A code from a retailer's own affiliate feed is removed when the retailer stops publishing it. Once a code's listed expiry date passes, we stop handing it out, and it drops off every page within the hour. You can tell us whether a code worked after trying it. Codes are ranked by a confidence score that combines those shopper votes, how recently a shopper last reported the code worked, and listing recency.

Why do some coupon codes not work?

Retailers retire codes without notice, restrict them to specific items or customers, or cap redemptions. That's why we show the retailer's own expiry date and drop codes that leave the feed, instead of pretending everything works. Once a code's listed end date passes, it comes off the page within the hour.

Is Promo Code Index free? Do I need an account?

Yes, completely free, and no account is needed. There are no pop-ups, no email walls, and no registration barriers. Find a code, copy it, use it.

How does Promo Code Index make money?

Through affiliate commissions: when you buy after clicking a store link, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects which codes we show or how they rank. Ranking is driven by community votes and freshness data. Full details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

How often are codes updated?

Sync jobs run every four hours against each partner affiliate network, and offers that no longer appear in a feed are removed on that run. How recently any one store was refreshed depends on when its retailer republishes, so each store page prints its own last-synced date instead of a site-wide promise. Once a code's listed expiry date passes, we stop handing it out, and it drops off every page within the hour.

Can I get an email when a store has a new code?

Yes. Follow a store or a category and Promo Code Index emails you when it lists a new offer there. Follow a word or phrase and it emails you when that word appears in an offer's title. Set any of them up on the deal alerts page. No account is needed, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Does Promo Code Index pay cashback?

No. Promo Code Index pays no cashback, on any store, and a store page's cashback question says so directly rather than staying quiet on a query it can't serve. There is no points scheme and nothing to sign up for.

Who runs Promo Code Index?

Promo Code Index is run by Adam Moffett, based in the United States. No retailer owns the site or pays for a place on it. The contact page gives the address to write to.
